![]() It is now easier for Western Bay art-lovers to support Creative Tauranga thanks to local law firm Mackenzie Elvin. The company became a strategic partner of Creative Tauranga several years ago and has helped them move from an incorporated society to a charitable trust. Mackenzie Elvin principal Marcus Wilkins said the change in operating structure means donations made to Creative Tauranga now qualify for a tax rebate. "It's a much more suitable structure for supporters of art and culture," he said. The law firm (located in a beautiful villa on Brown St) helped Creative Tauranga withthe legal work involved in moving into their current premises and actively promotes art events to their clients. "The three partners have all recognised that one of the needs of a growing city is to have a vibrant arts and cultural scene so we were keen to support Creative Tauranga in its ambitions to achieve that," Mr Wilkins said. Mackenzie Elvin was founded in 1976 and practices general, commercial and family law. Fiona Mackenzie joined the practice back in 1978, while her husband, Graeme Elvin, and Mr Wilkins arrived in 1994. Its mission statement ("more than a law firm: trusted advisors constantly seeking the right solution for you") is based around their philosophy that lawyers should work closely with their clients to understand their needs. Mr Wilkins said Mackenzie Elvin has many clients who are keen supporters of the arts and the firm's pro bono work for CreativeTauranga "is our way of giving something back to the community."
