Summer Clerk ProgrammeEach summer we employ one or two law students to do research work and obtain experience with our firm. See what they have to say about it ... Summer Clerking at Mackenzie Elvin has been an invaluable experience. Seeing the day to day operation of the firm has given me a taste of what working in the legal profession is like and has given me focus for the future. Doing a summer clerkship with Mackenzie-Elvin has given me a huge insight into life within the legal profession. It has been an opportunity to not only put into practice some of the things I have learnt at University, but to learn from some brilliant lawyers and teachers. I will return to my studies with a new perspective and drive, as well as a better idea of what I want in my future career. I was employed as a Summer Clerk at Mackenzie Elvin from November 2007 until February 2008. I worked in Graeme Elvin’s commercial team on a wide range of matters including: residential property transactions, trust and company structuring, Maori land issues, a small claims dispute and employment law matters. As part of this I attended client meetings, an employment mediation and a hearing in the Maori Land Court. Application processIf you wish to apply for a summerclerkship for 2010, please have your application letter and CV to us by 20 August 2010.
