Graeme has practised in Tauranga for over 20 years. He recognises the need to have a close understanding of his clients business and personal aspirations and that the provision of legal services per se does not provide this.

By developing a close and individual relationship with each of his clients, he endeavours to outwork the practice’s vision of “walking in your shoes”.

Business today increasingly demands meaningful strategic planning and development, both in entrepreneurial endeavours and revisioning of existing businesses. Graeme’s skills and excellent reputation in this area are highly regarded.

Graeme also adds value to company, commercial property, business and family ventures, with a special interest and expertise in trusts and trusteeships.

He also holds a number of positions as an independent Director in small and medium companies.

A keen sportsman and former representative rugby player, Graeme has also developed his interest in sports law and is the current Chairman of the Chiefs Super 14 Rugby Franchise.

Fiona's many years of experience have given her a strong and wide experience in family law, particularly with respect to relationship property division and restructuring on relationship breakdown, and parenting matters.

An ability to sensitively but firmly deal with the complex and painful area of personal relationships means that her skills are always in high demand.

Fiona's involvement as a member of the New Zealand Law Society Family Law Section has put her at the cutting edge of the rapidly and constantly changing family and relationship law.

Fiona is also involved as a mediator over a wide range of disputes. She believes that mediation remains one of the few processes that ensure that the participants remain in control and in a position to ensure they get an opportunity to be heard.

Areas of Expertise: Property Law, Commercial law

Having returned to New Zealand from the UK early in 2009, David has joined Mackenzie Elvin’s commercial team. David’s background is in civil litigation and banking and says that his great enjoyment in life is people and places. His wanderlust has seen him travel widely through Europe & Asia, living in both London and Denmark along the way, though he maintains his return to New Zealand was always inevitable. Having grown up on a dairy farm in the heart of the Waikato he just couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home. He even bases his professional approach to the law on an old farming maxim:

“Growing up on the farm I was always taught that the most important thing to remember is that if you are going to use a gate then you have to make sure to shut it behind you. I think the same can be said about the law. It’s about taking care. In legal practice it is important to get things right for the client at the outset to avoid running into problems later on”
