We are pleased to announce the addition of Thomas Refoy-Butler and Annie Withington to the Mackenzie Elvin Law team.
Thomas is an Associate of Mackenzie Elvin Law and is an experienced litigator providing strategic advice and representation to clients in relation to commercial disputes and regulatory litigation. He has particular experience in contractual disputes, employment, insolvency, insurance (policy advice, statutory liability and public liability), professional disciplinary proceedings, interim relief (injunctions and freezing orders) and regulatory litigation and investigations. He also has experience as sole and junior counsel acting for private and corporate clients, including Crown entities, in both civil and criminal proceedings in the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
Thomas also regularly instructs barristers providing litigation support, management and appearing as counsel as required.
Thomas is an Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
Thomas started his career in Auckland in a specialist litigation practice and subsequently worked for two national law firms before relocating with his family to Tauranga at the beginning of 2019. Outside of the law, he enjoys spending time with his family and has a passion for the outdoors whether it be competing in multisport events, hunting or diving.
Annie is a law clerk at Mackenzie Elvin Law working in the litigation, family and commercial teams.
Annie grew up in Christchurch before moving south to study Law and Arts (Sociology) at the University of Otago. During her studies, Annie spent six months studying abroad at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and volunteered at the Dunedin Community Law Centre.
Annie worked as a summer clerk at Mackenzie Elvin Law at the end of 2018 before starting as a graduate clerk in 2019.
